From engineers to bakers

Harpreet Kaur and Amardeep were engineers, one in software, one mechanical, when they started dreaming about a bakery of their own. The dream took about ten years, a move from India to PEI in 2019, and a lot of test batches.

Why everything is eggless

It started at home. Harpreet's son loved cakes, so she learned to bake ones he could eat, without eggs, and got good enough that she ended up managing her uncle's bakery back in India.

After arriving on PEI she worked in bakeries around Charlottetown and noticed they all baked with eggs and dairy. In India, where a majority of people she knew ate vegetarian, the eggless section was the busiest part of any bakery. Charlottetown didn't have one.

So in late 2023 they opened it themselves: a completely eggless bakery at Royal Plaza, with the sweets and street food they grew up with alongside the birthday cakes. A few weeks later The Guardian put them on the business page.

"From engineers to bakers"

The Guardian covered the opening in January 2024: two engineers turning a decade-old dream into PEI's completely eggless bakery.

"It was not a daydream. We've been working on it for the last 10 years. We've done lots of experiments. We've been trying to meet lots of people to understand what tastes they're looking for."

I absolutely love this bakery! Every single cake I've tried has been both stunning and incredibly delicious. The carrot cake was what got me hooked, it's hands down the best carrot cake on the island!

Very accommodating! They listen well and produce exactly what you're looking for. Cakes can be made vegan. We ordered a butterscotch cake and everyone at the table LOVED it.

Cookies and pastries were amazing, but the veggie noodle burger was to die for. So messy but so tasty it was worth it, I couldn't put it down!

The veg momos were excellent, and the savoury patty was flaky, fresh, and full of flavour. Before leaving, we picked up a few Morning Glory muffins for the next morning.
